Day 203: Home Again

It was a long drive home, but I'm back.  Looking at today's picture, I think you can tell what was on my mind :).

Day 197: Home

There are a few parts of me that has missed home, but most of me is sad to be done with my adventure.  I am so glad that I leave for another adventure tomorrow.

It was kind of strange moving at my own pace today.  I stayed in my pajamas until about noon.  I started to update my blog and work on pictures.  I also have started framing my new posters.  I even framed my map of the trip.  What a trip...

Later in the afternoon I went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate their anniversary (28 years!).  It was a nice day.

Day 196: Not Ready for Home

Today I take the journey back home.  This is a very sad day.  I have never felt such a connection with the people and places I have been.  I feel as though I am saying goodbye to my new home and family.  This trip has been more than I could have ever imagined.  I knew that it was going to be awesome, but I never expected it to be this life changing.  I am actually writing this a little over a week later and I'm worried that I will lose this version of myself.  I have never been so free and happy to just take life in.  My lesson from this adventure is to let life happen.  I am such a planner and it is okay to not have it all figured out.  I feel like I can achieve any dream right now and I hope this feeling lasts forever.  I'm worried that reality will creep in and ruin this freedom.  I have to work to make this my reality, that this is who I am now.  It breaks my heart to imagine going back to the restricted me.  I guess the only thing I can ask right now is: what's next?

Day 121: New Digs

What you see here is my new home.  I am very excited to call this place my home and I'm really looking forward to the amenities at this place.  One of the things I am looking forward to most is my "creativity room."  It is fun to have something new to plan and think about.  Here are some pictures of my new hacienda.

Other good news today: they went in to look at my grandmother's arteries and everything is clear.  She is back home tonight.  They still don't know what was causing the chest pain, but a bad heart is not to blame.  Thank you whoever is watching out for us up there.

Day 92: Please Don't Make me go Back

I woke up around four this morning, unable to sleep any longer.  I spent my morning catching up on what I had missed while I was gone as well as organizing my blog and unpacking all of my goodies.

Something big that I missed while I was gone was a fire.  One of the buildings diagonally across from mine had several apartments damaged.  Apparently it was started by a grill.  As I was walking Kendra this afternoon I stopped to talk with a couple that was trying to salvage what they could from their apartment below the start of the fire.  They did not have much left that could be taken.  I asked about their dog because I remembered they had one.  The owner removes snow from the grass so the dog can go (Kendra and I take advantage of that).  Luckily the dog was in Florida when it happened.  Who knows if it would have survived if it was there.

I offered to help them and the expression that the woman made seemed like she strongly considered taking me up on my offer.  But after thinking, she declined.  I guess that one woman whose apartment was damaged just got back yesterday from the Bahamas.  I am soooooooo thankful that nothing bad happened to my apartment while I was gone.  I can't even imagine...

I considered taking a picture of the damage from the fire for my blog, but it seemed too personal.  That was someone's home.  I wonder if there is a line that should not be crossed when it comes to photography.

I spent the rest of the day in a funk.  I'm not ready to return to school and I'm feeling a sense of loneliness after being with my family for several days.

I found myself quite tired in the afternoon, so I decided to give up and go to bed before six.  I am writing this blog a bit late because it is now four in the morning on the next day.  I've been up since about three and cannot sleep anymore.  This should make for an interesting day.
