Reclaiming Experience

This blog is a tool for recording my experiences as well as evaluating my day-to-day life. With my camera in hand, I will make meaning out of my life.

Day 128: The Master

I picked up my cap and gown tonight for graduation.  I was fortunate enough to meet up with some cool ladies for drinks afterwards to celebrate being a "master."  It made me think of the fun I'm going to have this summer.  Things are going pretty well right now...

Day 127: Triggers

I began by taking my loaded car to the new place this morning to unload.  I think by the end of this week I will be pretty much set minus the big furniture.  Here you see my new grill and my bistro set with the tablecloth I bought in Provence.  It is so fun to take out those little souvenirs and start using them.  I love to have little reminders of my trips around me.

My condo reminds me of Europe in a way.  It is kind of silly, but my door is one of those triggers.  Each door to the apartments we have rented in Europe had a little trick to getting them open.  My door has the same.  I have to turn the key in the opposite direction that I turn the door.  Also, I have to turn the knob to the left to leave.  The other trigger is my toilet.  It has a European look to it.  The next time I go over I'll take a picture to show you.

Day 126: Not Again...

I am sick...again.  I cannot remember being so health challenged.  It started with the sore throat and hoarse voice, then came the nose.  A sinus infection...again.  I don't feel like I've been healthy since my trip.  Even before that I was sick in February.  Ugh.  Maybe the end of the school year will bring better health.

Today I went with some coworkers to see one of our previous students in the musical "Robin Hood."  She has gone through some tough times in the past year, but it is amazing to see how she has pulled everything back together.  It is good that organizations like that exist to encourage involvement.

Besides that, I pretty much graded and packed.  Not the most action packed day, but about all the action I could take.  Sorry for the bad picture.  It is all I took today.

Day 125: Movin and Groovin

Another busy, but productive day.  We were able to move quite a bit today.  One of the items that I took over was my record player.  Listening to a little vinyl makes unpacking a little more enjoyable.  I think someone else is starting to feel at home.

Below you can see my new dining room set.  It also has two more chairs and a leaf, but I don't need that now, so it is stored in the table.  I think it is perfect.

Day 124: A New Look

I was pretty frustrated with the kids at school today, so I found myself coming home and taking out my frustration with productivity.  I began by staining my wine rack.  It is now "Cabernet."  I forgot to bring home gloves from school, so my hands are also this color.  Instant tan, and probably not good for my skin either.

After staining I boxed some items.  I keep hoping that there will appear to be a dent in the amount I have to move, but I'm not seeing one yet.  I should enjoy the journey, right?

Day 123: Go Go Go

It was another crazy day with internal subbing in the morning, my own sub in the afternoon, a meeting, and some moving.  Tomorrow I am taking the evening off to catch up with school work and relax a little.  Here are some pictures from the evening.  The first one shows a bottle of rose wine that my dad got.  It is from the Languedoc region of France (which I've been to).

Day 122: Busy Day

I spent some time over at the new place tonight after stopping to order a new dining room set.  My parents have generously offered to help me out with some new items.  One of them is a lovely, cherry dining room set.  Get ready for some dinner parties people.

I had such a good afternoon today.  I had some major votes of confidence from people and I got to see some students from the past.  One of them is considering the Air Force and a career in Astronomy.  It is so amazing to see them making choices about their life, especially when they are good choices.

As the night winds down, I watch "New Girl" and enjoy some laughs.
